What We Offer

We aim to offer warm hospitality to all who arrive inviting you to explore our spacious, tranquil valley. We also offer opportunities for residential volunteer assistants.

Experiences
The remote Baton Valley offers a stunning setting in which to unfold your event abounding in quietude and green landscapes. No ordinary dwelling, The Baton House is a superb venue for gatherings. The House becomes a homely hub; a large, light and airy ‘ballroom’ provides a beautiful space for focused group interactions, meditation or movement sessions. The kitchen, warmed by the wood burner, provides comfortable couches and dining spaces for intimate connections and easy conversations. With many unique, eye catching features, you will feel something special here with us.
Great Taste Trail Cycle Groups
We are perfectly placed for group accommodation for cyclists on the Great Taste Trail, approximately 18km from Tapawera and 15km from Woodstock. Offering accommodation for groups of 4 or more, we are a little unique. Because we know its so hard to leave, we only offer a 2 night, fully catered package. You get the opportunity to sink your roots into this stunning paradise, using your extra day to explore the pristine bush of the Kahurangi National Park by cycling a little further up the valley on a 4WD track, enjoy a relaxation massage or simply chill out in the comfort of our tranquil home. Read a book. Did we mention the hot tub? The day starts with optional yoga and we also encourage you to get your hands in the soil helping out with our native revegetation project. Summer river swimming is idyllic! Please note we are not a standard B and B facility - our focus is on education and encouraging your connection with the history, community and natural environment of the valley.

In order to sustain our property and carry our vision of caring deeply for the whenua (land) into the future we encourage all guests visiting the property to consider spending 60-90 minutes of their time helping out with projects. Typically this will be in our plant nursery, pricking out or potting up, or in our native revegetation areas planting, weeding, or seed collecting.
