The Baton House sits on the site of the Taylor's Hotel that was built in the 1860s serving the gold mining community. The House was built as a replica of the hotel and the design has captured the old world charm of a bygone era.
We provide accommodation in the Baton Valley, which feeds the Baton River into the Motueka Valley. We can accommodate groups of cyclists on the Great Taste Trail or those wishing to bring groups for workshops or retreats.
Our spacious villa is beautifully appointed with antique European furniture, en suites in each bedroom and a stunning 'ballroom'. The organic vegetable garden supplies the kitchen with fresh food, and nature does the rest.
We also offer 'Footprints'. Discover the wild beauty of the Baton Valley on a 3 hour guided wilderness walk through time, terrain, and transformation. An immersive journey that weaves together ecology, history, biodiversity, and cultural knowledge across the rich and varied landscapes of two river valleys.
With each step, you’ll connect more deeply with the land, its stories, and your place in shaping its future.
